Project Bonneville

This is the story of my 2003 Pontiac Bonneville SLE.  After a long search, I found this one in Central Kentucky. I purchased it in 2017 and drove it for 3 years before the transmission's forward band broke.  It has been sitting in my driveway ever since.  In May 2023, I decided that I wanted to do something I had been wanting to do for years. A L67 swap. But I wanted to do it in the most thrifty way possible.  So, I started shopping and found a 2004 Buick Park Avenue Ultra for $650.  Went to see it heard it run, it had a title. SOLD, and dragged it back 2 hours from Evansville, IN.  Took the engine, Transmission, PCM and harness out hoping to swap it all.  Sdaly the harness is different between the Park Avenue and the Bonneville so its not a direct swap, but for cheap I got a new boost bypass valve and MAP sensor extension.  scrapped the hull of the Buick as it was beyond use (a few too many Wisconsin winters).  Once some overdue maintenance is completed to the donor engine, it will be reassembled and if all goes well be back into service before too long.  Follow the page below for updates.

2020 Yamaha MT-03

I am a huge Rush fan and even bigger Neil Peart fan. I read all of his books and enjoyed all of his work musically over the years.  In part I learned to play drums because of Neil's influence.  Let's fast forward to 2020, I leard that he had passed away.  What does this have to do with me and motorcycles? Well, in later years Neil rode his BMW GS between most of the concerts. and he wrote about them in his books. I never considered it before. but YOLO kicked in and I started shopping and learned really quick at 5'6" with a 29in inseam that any BMW GS was too tall for me for feel comfortable on, Though I had settled on a BMW G310R until the Shop sold it.  I did more research and Yamaha brought the MT-03 to the US for 2020.  It was so different from the others that I checked out that It was over.  I got the cash and paid for it and started to learn to ride. Then I started shopping and things just evolved from there...
